Justin Appel

Justin Appel
Piano, Accompanist

During his undergraduate studies, Justin accompanied full-length degree recitals for voice majors, which included direction in accompanying from Marsha Baldwin and Mira Froenmeyer. In 2001, he accompanied the Choir of the West on their tour featuring Brahms' Zigeunerlieder and has enjoyed several chamber music collaborations with fellow pianists, violinists and cellists. He has performed many full-length solo recitals, both in degree and non-academic venues. Justin has also soloed with the PLU orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Bell-Hanson, performing Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor.

Recently, Justin has received special coaching from Gilbert Kalish and Christina Dahl, both faculty at Southern University of New York (SUNY Stony Brook), and from Maurizio Baglini, Gold Medallist at the 1999 World Music Piano Masters Competition in Monte-Carlo.

Justin resides in Wenatchee with his wife, Kate, and daughter Cecilia, where he is the music director at Trinity Church and has taught music history at The River Academy.
